AMERICAN LEGION POST 63 Hugh T. Gregory Post 63 Winter Garden, Florida On May 9, 2024, Post 63 proudly named Tom Lowrie, Trustee, as the 2023-2024 Legionnaire of the Year, honoring his patriotism, outstanding contributions to the Post, the community, and dedicated service to various initiatives.
Tom was an Executive Board Trustee, a U.S. Army veteran, and one of Post 63 longest serving members, who committed himself to the post for 58 years. Unfortunately, Tom passed recently, but Post 63 wished to honor his service and his loving wife Sue Lowie, of 51 years. Sue, a former Auxiliary Sgt-at-Arms, accepted the award and elegant ϐlag case on his behalf. “This evening is special as Tom gave so much of his time to the community, Post’s initiatives, and the nation.” Commander Gies said. His comments were followed by applause by the 20 Legionnaires in attendance. Commander Gies added “Tom’s and Sue’s help were invaluable, and we appreciated everything they’ve done throughout the many years.” L/R: Kurt Geis, Commander, Sue Lowrie, Rodney Walls Chaplain, and Paul Weisner, Executive Board Trustee L/R: Paul Weisner, Executive Board Trustee, Sue Lowrie and Commander Kurt Geis L/R: Kurt Geis, Commander, and Sue Lowrie
